Back in 2005, a company with some big ideas came onto the scene. A Green Cove Springs-based company by the name of ATLAS Hovercraft Inc. was developing hovercrafts that they had hoped to make commercially available in the transportation of passengers across the St. Johns River, as well as other local waterways.
Whether or not you like the idea of war, it happens. It will continue to happen. As cool as it would be, it would most likely be impossible to have everyone in the world in agreement. There have been many brave people that have fought for our country, and died for something that they believed in and loved.
Today’s photo album is one of two forgotten Nike missile bases. One base resides abandoned in Ohio, while the other sits abandoned in Florida. As for the Florida base, here is a bit of information below.
A decommissioned missile base hides tucked away within the heavily forested Florida Keys. Looking down the old SR-905 in Key Largo, you can barely see the crumbling remains of a former radar site, rusting to dust between hectic overgrowth. The three radars found at this site were the target ranging radar, target tracking radar and the missile tracking radar.
