Massive Abandoned Train Station

I will be posting a photo album of an explore or explores every day. Some may have a bit of historical information attached, while others will simply be shared to look at. People like to ruin cool things, so unless it’s gone or heavily watched over by an owner, I will not be sharing any other info. Sometimes, I may just not have any history. Very sorry that I will not be able to always share the location, but I do hope that you all understand that the reason is to protect the location from vandals and scrappers who aim to ruin something beautiful and sometimes nearly untouched.
Today’s photo album is one of an abandoned train station found while exploring through New York in 2013.
This may just be one of the most interesting explore days to make note of in my travels. During our exploration of the abandoned train station, we noticed a few other people wandering its halls. After avoiding each other for a bit, we eventually all ended up wandering into the same room. From there, we all got to talking about music, traveling, abandoned places and the like. They had mentioned they were train hopping, following local underground punk shows in each city they ended up in. They invited us to one that was happening that very night in the city, mentioning  that it was free (though you could make certain donations or buy some cupcakes or merch) and should be a lot of fun. On our way out from the day’s explorations, we decided that it would be cool to wander by and check out what was going on at the show. We showed up to find quite a large group of people gathered for the night, and learned that the event being held was to help bring attention to the fact that within the punk scene, there are many girl musicians that feel it shouldn’t be seen as so much of a male dominated scene. Everyone should be able to come together, play music and have a good time. The event, known as Vaggie Fest, was created by Buffalo musician Britt Wagner. I would have liked to grab a cupcake, but within the first 5 or so minutes of being there, a group of about 4 people fell onto the cupcakes, sending everything flying. Fun times!

The day was made more interesting when we realized that some people we knew from Cleveland actually ended up being at the show on the same night we ended up out here.

Thank you for looking, and be sure to check out what I have to share with you tomorrow!
